Client Advocate (Full-Time)

Requirements:

Availability Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 6pm-6am

Key Responsibilities:

Respond to 24-hour crisis hotline, crisis intervention, emotional support, safety planning, and information and referral services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Provide face to face, voluntary intervention and support
on an emergency basis to survivors of domestic and sexual violence and their families. Services shall be provided at non-traditional safe locations such as hospitals, police stations, etc. Work collaboratively with community systems used by survivors of domestic and sexual violence in their lives. Provide, assist and/or advocate on behalf of clients and their dependent children to link clients with community systems to secure counseling, legal advocacy, housing, employment/financial assistance, health related assistance, transportation or other services related to gaining independence. Work with the Shelter Manager to ensure safe operations of shelter facility.

Mobile Advocate

Position Overview:

AWARE, Inc. is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and motivated Mobile Advocate to join our new Mobile Advocacy Pilot Program. This one-year pilot is designed to expand access to domestic violence and sexual assault advocacy services by bringing support directly into communities and reducing barriers that may prevent survivors from accessing traditional office-based services. Two positions are available: one serving Jackson County and one serving Monroe County.

The Mobile Advocate will meet survivors at safe, accessible community locations and provide confidential, survivor-centered, trauma-informed advocacy. This position requires the ability to work independently in community settings while remaining closely connected to the AWARE team and community partners.

Requirements:

Provide confidential, survivor-centered advocacy to individuals impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault throughout the designated service area. The Mobile Advocate will meet survivors at safe and accessible community locations, help identify immediate needs, safety concerns, goals, and available options, and connect survivors with resources such as emergency shelter, housing, counseling, healthcare, transportation, financial assistance, and other supportive services. This position will provide legal and sexual assault advocacy, including assistance with Personal Protection Orders, court processes, and accompaniment when appropriate, as well as support survivors with applications and paperwork for available benefits and services. The Mobile Advocate will build relationships with community partners, identify safe locations for providing services, and participate in outreach and education to increase awareness of AWARE and the Mobile Advocacy Program. Additional responsibilities include maintaining accurate and confidential documentation, participating in required training, meetings, supervision, and program evaluation, following all AWARE policies and safety protocols, and traveling throughout the designated service area to meet with survivors and community partners.
